Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell *NON-SPOILER*

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell was a very heartfelt read. It was a very dark contemporary with some very cute parts in it. In the midst of reading five other fantasy reads, I realized I wanted a contemporary so I grabbed Eleanor & Park. I was immediately hooked and was able to finish it in one afternoon. This was my first Rainbow Rowell book and I remember reading something on Tumblr saying that she had a way of making hand holding more exciting than a kiss and thinking, "Okay, sure. I'll believe it when I read it.", and boy, that Tumblr post was right.
Let's start off with Eleanor. I loved Eleanor's character. the way she dressed was fantastic, her hair and the fact that she wasn't a little twig just made everything better. Her personality was a little irritating at times but overall I just loved her.
But her stepdad, oh he made me want to commit murder. This abusive, drunk, piece of shit was the most disgusting human I've read about in a while. He didn't give two shits about a single thing other than himself. Eleanor, or even Sabrina, his fucking wife could have died and he would just think of it as an inconvenience.
Now moving on to Park. Park. He was the sweetest character and I loved seeing his crush on Eleanor develop. His family was so interesting, I couldn't tell if I loved or hated his parents, I think it was both at times. Him knowing how to fight made everything so much better, so I guess thanks Papa Park.
Enough about the characters alone, let's go on to the ships. I SHIPPED ELEANOR AND PARK SO MUCH! Everything about them was just so adorable. From the comic books (which by the way, was one of my favorite things possibly ever,) to Park's protective boyfriend side, to Eleanor at Park's house just being a regular thing, everything about them was just amazing.
In the end, when the terrible ending we were all just waiting for, the rubber band just waiting to snap, I was left in tears. That beginning page of suspense and mystery finally made sense. In books like these, no matter how short they are, I always think back to the beginning. I wonder how so much could happen and so much could change in just 300 short pages.
OKAY I'M DONE BEING DEPRESSING :D Overall, I rated this book a well deserved five stars. It pulled at every heart string, made me feel every emotion at the right times, and left me with this sad, empty feeling inside after I had finished reading it. Good job, Ms. Rowell.

The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey Discussion *SPOILER*

The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey is the second book in the 5th Wave trilogy. I already didn't have very high hopes for this book because of the mixed reviews. Many people said they didn't enjoy the book and that it was too short and even fewer people said that they enjoyed it. Well I enjoyed it, but only because of the last part which was about the last 100 pages. If it were any longer I might have died. Unless it were of the last part. It surprised me that it was my favorite because I didn't really like the character is was the point of view from.
As I said, only the last 100 pages really interested me. Well nothing really happens in the first parts of the book, they don't even switch locations. I couldn't even find an actual plot line. Even reading the last part I couldn't find a plot but I didn't really mind it. In the first parts I think they are waiting for Ringer to come back to give the all clear? But they end up leaving anyway. Like I said, no plot.
Cassie in this book was so annoying. I read The 5th Wave about a year and a quarter ago but I don't remember her being annoying at all. (I also didn't remember Clary being that annoying in City of Bones but as I read it for the hundredth time, alas, she makes me want to claw my eyes out.) She was just acting so childish and complaining about everything, picking fights over little things, getting upset over nothing. But Ben was also annoying, a new thing for me. Evan was always weird to me so that wasn't new but I just found it weird that my least favorite character of the last book (Ringer) became one of my favorites.
Ringer wasn't my favorite character, though, my baby Razor is. While he is also like a child, he isn't annoying and I love my sunshine. It doesn't matter that he turned out to be a traitor in the end. The way he interacted with Ringer was just beautiful and I loved it when they played the board games together it was just so cute! For once, I actually have an actual otp. I shipped them and only them. Everyone else was just annoying. Also, HE ISN'T DEAD HE CAN'T BE DEAD
That's all I have to say on this, because, you know, nothing happened. I ended up rating it 4/5 stars, thanks to that last part and the introduction of my sunshine. Bye!

Alienated by Melissa Landers Review *NON-SPOILER*

Alienated by Melissa Landers is a young adult novel about aliens. Cara Sweeney is the perfect student; straight A's, class valedictorian, and up for many scholarships. When she is called to the principal's office for a big opportunity, there is a catch. She has to be an exchange student for the sister planet. Aelyx, the boy on the other side of this exchange project, arrives on Earth to be paired up with Cara's family. He ends up being one of the coldest people one could meet, but over time, Cara and Aelyx warm up to each other.
One of my favorite things about this book was that aliens were a known thing to everyone. Everyone knows that aliens exist, and when they come to Earth, no one is as surprised as in every other sci-fi alien book. Even though people know about them, doesn't mean they're exactly the friendliest. Humans are as mean to L'eihrs as they were to people of other races in the 1900s. I like this aspect of the book because in most books that have any other type of fantasy species, they are completely hidden from the world and when they are open to the public, we get a bunch of "OMGGGGG ALIENSSSS!!!1!!1!1!! THOSE EXIST????!!?!??!?11?" and it's annoying.
Now most people aren't a fan of this type of romance but I love the insta-hate but turns into love thing. I hate insta-love, but I love insta-hate. Weird, right? It's understandably really awkward between the two at first because, well, they are two different species. No one of either race really wants to be with the other in any relationship, much less live in one of their homes. So when Aelyx goes to Cara's home to live, one might not enjoy the style. Or maybe Cara's singing. But eventually, after Cara's many attempts to make nice and be friendly to this hot alien, he finally gives in and the two become friends! But things go wrong when a human and L'eihr that are friends go to school with anti-Leihr protests going on.
This was another aspect that I really appreciated, not because no one likes aliens, but because it was done so well. When they show up to school that first day, there were so many signs of protest that you feel almost as overwhelmed as the characters! With everyone against you, including your best friend and ex-boyfriend, you kind of have to become pretty close with each other...
Overall, Alienated by Melissa Landers was a spectacular read. It was fast-paced with the perfect speed for romance, and because it kept me up til five-am to finish it, earned itself  a five stars from me! Now before I go I would like to add that I read this book in May of this year, and every review I've tried to write for this book since then has sucked, so if I am off on anything I'm sorry and please let me know in the comments!

UnEnchanted by Chanda Hahn Review *NON-SPOILER*

UnEnchanted by Chanda Hahn is about a girl named Mina Grime who has bad luck. Literal bad luck; nothing good ever happens to her. When she runs into an incident and gets popular, a family secret comes out.
I was really excited to read UnEnchanted, and I must say, I was disappointed. The book had such a good concept and I was so excited to find out what happens, but I couldn't go on. The writing style was terrible (Did the editors not edit the book before it was published?) and had bad grammar. I could have written a book with better grammar. Another thing was the fact that the book had so much cheese it was practically dripping out of my phone screen (I was reading an e-book version). The book was cheesy to put it lightly, and if you like cheese you would probably like this book a lot more than I did.
The cheesy-ness starts at the first page. A girl with a crappy life has a crush on the most popular boy in school. This popular boy just so happens to not realize how popular, hot, and cool he is. He's rich, has a good family name, and has a girlfriend who happens to be the most popular girl in school. And Mina, well Mina's average. Need I say more.
I got a little over one-hundred pages in UnEnchanted by Chanda Hahn and wanted to keep pushing on but I just couldn't. Now saying that I couldn't finish it means I won't rate it any more than one star. I'm sorry to say this and I hate not finishing books and rating them that low but I just had to. there may be a time where I'm craving cheese and this will the first book I go to and hopefully my thoughts will change.

The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart Review *NON-SPOILER*

The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart was a very interesting read. It was very different than anything else I had ever read. It's about gifted kids that go take a certain test. After taking the test they go on a crazy adventure. I would say more but it's better not knowing going in with this one.
I really loved the characters in this book. They were so different from anyone in real life that it was crazy how I got into it! All of these kids are insanely gifted. Not just smart but smart-smart. In more ways than one. I can't exactly say any character names because that will give away who will stay and who will leave!
The plot in this book was very intriguing, a little slow in the middle, but very intriguing. I very much enjoyed how the characters worked things.
That's all I can really say without giving away too much in The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart. I very much enjoyed it but because it took me over a month to finish, I will have to rate it three stars, based on my rating system.

Crown of Midnight Book Discussion *SPOILERS*

Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas was just as everyone said it was- a spectacular sequel! I wouldn't say it was better than the first, maybe a tie. It was so different than the first that it's impossible to completely compare the two. While the first one, Throne of Glass, centered around the contest and had plenty of action, Crown of Midnight, for the first half, was mostly romance, then picks up with the action for the second half.
This is one for all the Chaol and Celaena shippers! I'm not on a team; I'm not a big fan of love triangles. Normally with them I just see how it plays out with each guy and unless I really like the idea of one pairing together (cough cough* Wessa *cough cough) so this was fine. I originally shipped Chaol and Celaena but now I don't care as long as there is some sort of romance. Let's just say, I didn't realize Celaena was this kind of the romantic.
For me, someone who loves the perfect mix of romance and action, felt it was a little separated. When books do that I usually prefer the action, I'm just that kind of girl! So when Celaena went to save Chaol but realized the actual danger, I started to freak out! Poor Nehemia! What's worse is they didn't even leave off on a good note *cries*! While reading this i had a hand over my face and the book attached to my nose. When she went to kill Chaol I was silently screaming, since it was like 12 a.m. and I was at my grandparents house.
When she found out that Grave was the one to kill Nehemia, I knew that his time here was gone. But it would leave slowly and painfully. I must say, I'm not disappointed in his death, I actually loved it! (Is that  bad?) When! She! Took! His! Head! To! The! King! And! Set! It! In! Front! Of! His! Employer(or whatever I forgot and I'm letting a friend borrow it so I can't look it up)! I! DIED! I had to put the book down so I could appreciate that with many muffled squeaks and jerky excitement.
RANDOM PARAGRAPH OF THINGS
I loved the scene where we got to read from the king's point of view because we were really able to see what goes on in his twisted mind! Dorian has magic?! Honestly how didn't I guess all of this? It makes so much sense! That's another thing I love about Maas's writing, making things so complicated and so simple at the same time! Celaena is the lost queen I just! I spoiled this for myself by trying to see how many pages there were and accidentally skimming the last page. Yeah, don't do that.
Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas was a beautiful novel and wonderful sequel! I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars and I would definitely read this whole series many times again!

To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han Review

To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han is about a girl named Lara Jean who has written a love letter to every boy she has ever liked and keeps them in a special hat box. Never to be seen by anyone but Lara Jean herself. When one day during her dad's spring cleaning, she finds her hatbox missing and her letters sent.

To All the Boys I've Loved Before definitely wasn't what I was expecting. I was expecting a lot more drama than there actually was. I went into the book thinking that once the letters have been sent, she would go back to her school and everyone would know who she had ever liked and how personal the letters actually were. I went in expecting to feel a lot of anger towards most of the characters and a lot of embarrassment for Lara Jean. I was wrong.

In the beginning we focus more on her older sister, Margot leaving for college then the actual letters themselves. Then we move onto boys and the letters (still without too much drama or embarrassment), back to Margot, boys and we end with boys.

With Han's short chapters and easy to read writing style, it's not too difficult to fall in love with To All the Boys I've Loved Before. I read this for a read-a-thon for the category of 'new to you author' and I rate it 4/5 stars.
